Mr. Abdul Wahab Soomro
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Abdul Wahab Soomro, took charge as CEO of PPHI Sindh in February 2019. Bringing more than 27 years of executive experience with various private and public organizations including Engro Chemicals Pakistan Pvt. Ltd. National Bank of Pakistan, Federal Commerce Ministry, Provincial Finance and School Education Departments, Government of Sindh, and Sindh Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (SPPRA). Mr. Soomro most recently served as Secretary Land Utilization Department and Secretary General Administration, SGA&CD Government of Sindh.
Mr. Soomro belongs to Pakistan Administrative Service of Civil Services of Pakistan and has served in various capacities in Civil and District Administration. He holds a Masters in Financial Management from University of Melbourne, Australia and an MBA from Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. Along with attending various mandatory and optional Senior Management Courses, he has also participated in Leadership Decision Making at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Mr. Ghulam Ali Soomro
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Ghulam Ali Soomro, brings over 19 years of experience to the organization from his key roles across a number of different offices in Government of Sindh. He took additional charge of CEO in April 2018 and served till January 2019.
A Masters in Business Administration, Mr. Soomro joined PPHI Sindh in 2008 as District Support Manager before taking on responsibilities in 2012 as a Regional Director providing leadership in strategic and operational matters to the District Support Managers.
Mr. Soomro assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer for PPHI Sindh in 2015. In the same year, he moved on to take the additional responsibilities of Director Human Resource. Previously, he has worked as District Officer (Finance) in Finance & Planning Department, District Government Jacobabad and Section Officer (Admin), Section Officer Implementation and Section Officer (Compliant Cell) in Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Government of Sindh, Karachi.
Mr. Javed Ahmed Abro
Director Human Resource
Mr. Javed Ahmed Abro, is a Civil Engineering graduate. He joined provincial civil services in 2005. He has served in Secretariat of Irrigation, Health and Finance Departments for two years before his posting as Deputy Director (Technical) in Program Monitoring Unit (NPIW) at Mirpurkhas in March 2007. He supervised work of 45 field teams in five districts working on lining of water courses. He also served in Public Private Partnership (PPP) Unit, Finance Department of Government of Sindh for two years (March, 2009 – March, 2011) before joining PPHI Sindh as District Support Manager (DSM) at Shikarpur. He has also served as DSM in Ghotki and Sukkur districts before he was promoted as Regional Director in October 2014.
As Regional Director, Larkana he successfully supervised operations of PPHI Sindh in six districts. In September 2016, he was promoted to the position of Director Human Resource. He also looks after Medical Reimbursement and Contributory Provident Fund portfolios of PPHI Sindh.
Mr. Syed Shahid Ali
Mr. Syed Shahid Ali, Director Procurement PPHI, joined Provincial Secretariat Service in 2002 as a Section Officer and served in Finance Department Government of Sindh for about eight years. While working in Finance Department, he worked in areas of Debt Management (Local & Foreign Loans), Budgeting, Resource Mobilization, Taxation, National Finance Commission and Provincial Finance Commission. Mr. Shahid has an MA in Economics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance, Economics and Management from Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. Mr. Shahid also served as Assistant Director (Contract Management) in Decentralization Support Program sponsored by International Development Agency (IDA). Moreover, he was appointed by the Asian Development Bank in Sindh Devolved Social Service Program as Finance and Governance Specialist Karachi. Mr. Shahid got the opportunity to work as a consultant (Policy Regulation) in City District Government, Karachi (CDGK). Besides, he has also served as District Support Manager, Principal Officer PPHI Sindh.
Dr. Zamir Hussain
Dr. Zamir Hussain is a Pediatrician and Public Health expert currently holds the position of Director Research & Training at PPHI, Sindh. Dr. Zamir has adequate Public Health expertize. He has worked independently to develop, execute, analyze and report community based maternal and child health research. His main field of interest is intervention studies targeting MNCH, nutrition and immunization especially typhoid and Polio. He has many publications to his name especially in immunization, nutrition and MNCH field. Dr. Suhag is a medical doctor by profession with public health background. He completed his graduation in medicine (M.B.B.S) in 1992. He has completed training in pediatrics in the year 1997 from department of Pediatrics and Child Health; Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi, after that he did postgraduation in Child health from College of Physicians & Surgeons, Pakistan.
Dr. Zaib Dahar
Senior Technical Advisor
Dr. Zaib Dahar, a Public Health specialist, is a medical graduate (MBBS) from Peoples Medical College Nawab Shah – present day Shaheed Benazirabad. She has 21 years of experience providing leadership, management and program development in the field of women’s & children health. She has a comprehensive understanding of Health system, collaborating with government ministries, team members, cooperating agencies, UN Agencies, NGOs and key stakeholders such as Department of Health of all four provinces, National MNCH Program National program for Family Planning (FP) and PHC National Nutrition Program, National Ministry of Health Services Regulation & Coordination (NMHSRC) and medical universities of Sindh. Dr. Zaib joined PPHI Sindh in August 2016. She has extensive experience in implementing evidence based practices in maternal, newborn & child health (MNCH) as well as Family Planning (FP) and in conducting trainings on FP/MNCH/PHC, quality assurance, Management of health facilities at PHC level, developing training strategies, developed performance standards from guidelines, developed implementation guidelines for MNCH interventions
