Mr. Abdul Wahab Soomro
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Abdul Wahab Soomro, took charge as CEO of PPHI Sindh in February 2019. Bringing more than 27 years of executive experience with various private and public organizations including Engro Chemicals Pakistan Pvt. Ltd. National Bank of Pakistan, Federal Commerce Ministry, Provincial Finance and School Education Departments, Government of Sindh, and Sindh Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (SPPRA). Mr. Soomro most recently served as Secretary Land Utilization Department and Secretary General Administration, SGA&CD Government of Sindh.
Mr. Soomro belongs to Pakistan Administrative Service of Civil Services of Pakistan and has served in various capacities in Civil and District Administration. He holds a Masters in Financial Management from University of Melbourne, Australia and an MBA from Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. Along with attending various mandatory and optional Senior Management Courses, he has also participated in Leadership Decision Making at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Mr. Ghulam Ali Soomro
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Ghulam Ali Soomro, brings over 19 years of experience to the organization from his key roles across a number of different offices in Government of Sindh. He took additional charge of CEO in April 2018 and served till January 2019.
A Masters in Business Administration, Mr. Soomro joined PPHI Sindh in 2008 as District Support Manager before taking on responsibilities in 2012 as a Regional Director providing leadership in strategic and operational matters to the District Support Managers.
Mr. Soomro assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer for PPHI Sindh in 2015. In the same year, he moved on to take the additional responsibilities of Director Human Resource. Previously, he has worked as District Officer (Finance) in Finance & Planning Department, District Government Jacobabad and Section Officer (Admin), Section Officer Implementation and Section Officer (Compliant Cell) in Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Government of Sindh, Karachi.
Dr. Abdul Sattar Chandio
Senior Director Health Services
Mr. Abdul Sattar Chandio is a medical graduate of 1988 batch of LMC Jamshoro. He has served as a Medical Officer at RHC Kadhan. Subsequently, he was appointed as District Support Team, District Monitoring Officer and Long Term Campaign Support Officer on contract of WHO Sindh for Polio Eradication EPI Acceleration between 2003 and 2006. Additionally, he has also worked as District Master Trainer for National Program for LHWs, Master Trainer for LHS in respect of family planning and primary healthcare. Dr. Chandio also served as Trainer for Health Education and Trainer for HMIS etc. In 2006-2007, he was posted as District Focal Person EPI in Badin. He has served in international organisations such as UNICEF as District Support Officer and WHO as District Medical Officer. He joined PPHI Sindh in June 2012 as Public Health Specialist. He was soon promoted to the position of Senior Director Health Services due to his outstanding services.
Dr. Chandio introduced District Health Information System (DHIS) in primary healthcare setup. He also signed the MOUs with Nutrition Support Program and TB DOTS on behalf of PPHI Sindh. He also has another feather in his hat of executing evidence based practices in Maternal and Child Health to reduce maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR). Dr. Chandio has also worked on the Strengthening of EPI programme and digitalisation of vaccination in Dadu and Khairpur.
Mr. Javed Ahmed Abro
Director Human Resource
Mr. Javed Ahmed Abro, is a Civil Engineering graduate. He joined provincial civil services in 2005. He has served in Secretariat of Irrigation, Health and Finance Departments for two years before his posting as Deputy Director (Technical) in Program Monitoring Unit (NPIW) at Mirpurkhas in March 2007. He supervised work of 45 field teams in five districts working on lining of water courses. He also served in Public Private Partnership (PPP) Unit, Finance Department of Government of Sindh for two years (March, 2009 – March, 2011) before joining PPHI Sindh as District Support Manager (DSM) at Shikarpur. He has also served as DSM in Ghotki and Sukkur districts before he was promoted as Regional Director in October 2014.
As Regional Director, Larkana he successfully supervised operations of PPHI Sindh in six districts. In September 2016, he was promoted to the position of Director Human Resource. He also looks after Medical Reimbursement and Contributory Provident Fund portfolios of PPHI Sindh.
Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Surahio
Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Surahio, a pioneer worker of PPHI Sindh, and joined the organization in 2007. He has also served as District Support Manager, Kashmore - the first operational district of PPHI intervention. Mr. Surahio is an Officer of RDD BS-18 and has worked as Assistant Director, Monitoring and Evaluation Cell of Local Government and Rural Development Department. He has also worked as Program Officer at WES in UNICEF on behalf of the LG &RDD. Additionally, Mr. Surahio has also served as Program Officer in Community Development Department, Planning and Development Department for a period of one year. Mr. Surahio has served in PPHI Sindh on different and difficult stations. He is currently working as Principal Officer to Chief Executive Officer at PPHI Head Office in Karachi.
Dr. Zaib Dahar
Senior Technical Advisor
Dr. Zaib Dahar, a Public Health specialist, is a medical graduate (MBBS) from Peoples Medical College Nawab Shah – present day Shaheed Benazirabad. She has 21 years of experience providing leadership, management and program development in the field of women’s & children health. She has a comprehensive understanding of Health system, collaborating with government ministries, team members, cooperating agencies, UN Agencies, NGOs and key stakeholders such as Department of Health of all four provinces, National MNCH Program National program for Family Planning (FP) and PHC National Nutrition Program, National Ministry of Health Services Regulation & Coordination (NMHSRC) and medical universities of Sindh. Dr. Zaib joined PPHI Sindh in August 2016. She has extensive experience in implementing evidence based practices in maternal, newborn & child health (MNCH) as well as Family Planning (FP) and in conducting trainings on FP/MNCH/PHC, quality assurance, Management of health facilities at PHC level, developing training strategies, developed performance standards from guidelines, developed implementation guidelines for MNCH interventions
Dr. Zamir Hussain
Dr. Zamir Hussainis a Pediatrician and Public Health expert currently holds the position of Director Research & Training at PPHI, Sindh. Dr. Zamir has adequate Public Health expertize. He has worked independently to develop, execute, analyze and report community based maternal and child health research. His main field of interest is intervention studies targeting MNCH, nutrition and immunization especially typhoid and Polio. He has many publications to his name especially in immunization, nutrition and MNCH field. Dr. Suhag is a medical doctor by profession with public health background. He completed his graduation in medicine (M.B.B.S) in 1992. He has completed training in pediatrics in the year 1997 from department of Pediatrics and Child Health; Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi, after that he did postgraduation in Child health from College of Physicians & Surgeons, Pakistan.
Mr. Hans Hussain Soomro
Chief Audit Executive
Mr. Hans Hussain Soomro has been with PPHI Sindh since April 2010. He is currently serving in the organization as its Chief Audit Executive and Company Secretary. He has 11 years of local and international experience in financial management and, Internal and External Audit. Mr. Soomro has done his Chartered Accountant’s degree from Institute of Chartered Accountants, Pakistan. Earlier, he has served in MSK International Auditors, Dubai, Earnest & Young, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan offices and Unilever Pakistan as Senior Auditor, Supervising Senior and Assistant Manager, respectively.
Mr. Syed Shahid Ali
Mr. Syed Shahid Ali, Director Procurement PPHI, joined Provincial Secretariat Service in 2002 as a Section Officer and served in Finance Department Government of Sindh for about eight years. While working in Finance Department, he worked in areas of Debt Management (Local & Foreign Loans), Budgeting, Resource Mobilization, Taxation, National Finance Commission and Provincial Finance Commission. Mr. Shahid has an MA in Economics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance, Economics and Management from Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. Mr. Shahid also served as Assistant Director (Contract Management) in Decentralization Support Program sponsored by International Development Agency (IDA). Moreover, he was appointed by the Asian Development Bank in Sindh Devolved Social Service Program as Finance and Governance Specialist Karachi. Mr. Shahid got the opportunity to work as a consultant (Policy Regulation) in City District Government, Karachi (CDGK). Besides, he has also served as District Support Manager, Principal Officer PPHI Sindh.
Mr. Riaz Hussain Rahoojo
Regional Director - Sukkur
Mr. Riaz Hussain Rahoojo is currently serving as Regional Director Sukkur in PPHI Sindh. He joined PPHI Sindh in 2012 and has since served as District Manager Khairpur, Regional Director Mirpurkhas and Larkana Regions. Earlier, he has served in Government of Pakistan as Research Officer in Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms; Assistant Director Monitoring, Projects Wing; and Research Officer, Development in Ministry of Interior.
Mr. Rahoojo has also served in National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) as District Program Coordinator, District Manager (Capacity Building), Regional Manager Capacity building and District General Manager. Additionally, he has also served as Research Officer in Ministry of labour, Manpower and Overseas Employment and as Assistant Chief in Ministry of Planning in International Trade wing.
He has been with PPHI since 2009 and has served in the organization as District Support Manager, Gilgit and Baltistan; District Manager (DM) Skardu; DM Ghanche and DM Gilgit.
Mr. Khalil Ahmed Saraz
Regional Director - Mirpurkhas
Mr. Khalil Ahmed Saraz is currently serving as Regional Director Mirpurkhas. He is an Officer of Provincial Secretariat Services (PCS-2011). He has done his Masters in Economics and graduation (Hons) from Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam. Previously, he has served as Section Officer at Health and Finance Departments of Government of Sindh. He has also served as District Manager of Tharparkar and Mithi at PPHI Sindh. His performance during the drought emergencies of Tharparkar from year 2014 to 2016 is often marked as exemplary and successful.
Mr. Israr Ahmed Sodher
Regional Director - Hyderabad
Mr. Israr Ahmed Sodher is currently serving as Regional Director Hyderabad in PPHI Sindh. He has also served PPHI Sindh as District Manager Larkana, Regional Director Mirpurkhas and Larkana.
Mr. Ahmed has done his B.E in Textile Engineering from NED UET Karachi in 2006. He joined Civil Service in 2010 and is from 38th Common Training Programme (CTP) from Information Group. Earlier, he has served in various postings as PRO to Federal Minister for Industries & Production, Assistant Director BISP Government of Pakistan after joining Civil Services.
Dr. Jahanzib Sohail
Deputy Director Immunization
Dr. Jahanzib Sohailis a young skilled professional, holding an MBBS degree from LUMHS Jamshoro, MBA in Health and Hospital Management from IoBM Karachi, MSPH from AIPH-JSMU Karachi, and MHEcon from The University of Queensland Australia. He has also completed several career development executive & advanced technical courses in health system and data management from renowned institutions/universities across the globe. Dr. Sohail has strong theoretical and practical knowledge over health economics, health care financing, health management, primary health care and immunization. Dr. Sohail has gained several years of experience working with national and international organizations including different countries in the field of health management and public health.
Mr. Asadullah Dahri
Mr. Asadullah Dahri, Provincial Engineer at PPHI Sindh, has a B.E. in Civil Engineering and a professional experience of 25 years in project management, planning and scheduling high-end projects, possessing allied exposure in quality assurance and control and site supervision.
Mr. Dahri has served as National Project Director at National Fertilizer Corporation of Pakistan (PVT) LTD, Ministry of Industries & Production, Government of Pakistan. He has also served at international posts such QA/Planning Engineer, Senior Planning Engineer and Project Planning & Control Engineer mostly in Saudi Arabia at companies like Dorsch International Consultants, Assad Said for Contracting Co. Ltd. and Arabian company & Sasakura for Water & Power, respectively. Earlier, Mr. Dahri has also served in Departments of Agriculture and Irrigation & Power, Government of Sindh.
Dr. Sajid Shafique
Provincial Project Coordinator, Nutrition Cell
Dr. Sajid Shafique, a medical graduate (MBBS) from Chandka Medical College, has been associated with PPHI Sindh since 2016. He has 11 years of experience in the field of health and development sectors. Dr. Shafique has an elaborated experience in government funded nutrition programs. He has previously worked with both national and international organisations such as Nutrition Support Program, The Johanniter International, Save the Children and International Medical Corps. Dr. Sahafique has diversified working experience in Nutrition Sector covering Nutrition Specific and Nutrition Specific approaches. His working experience covers from District level up to Country level.
Mr. Masood Jamali
Manager Finance – Provident Fund
Mr. Masood Jamaliis highly educated, experienced and highly skilled Finance Professional. He did his MBA from Sindh University, MS Finance from Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology, Oracle 9i Developer from Oracle University, USA, and SAP Material Management & Procurement from Virtual Matrix Synergies, Karachi. He has been associated with PPHI Sindh since May 2016. He has 19 years of experience in the field of Finance, Inventory Management and ERP sectors. Mr. Jamali has experience of working at the highest level in government and private sectors. He has previously worked as Director Finance and Revenue Collection in PTCL, Inventory Manager and also implemented ERP in PTCL. He has also worked as Deputy Director at one of the most prestigious professional educational Institute of Cost and Management Accounts of Pakistan (ICMAP) and as Assistant Director – Treasury at National Savings, Pakistan.
Mr. Jamali is highly skilled in oracle and SAP and is a position holder in MS Finance. He had scored a PhD scholarship award by ministry of education (Cultural Exchange Scholarship) and a 1st Position in Federal Public Services Commissions of Pakistan for department exam of Assistant Director, Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan.
Dr. Sameeullah Odho
Manager Medical Reimbursement Cell
Dr. Sameeullah Odho graduated from Chandka Medical College and did his MS in Public Health from Jinnah Sindh Medical Postgraduate University Karachi in 2018. He is a Medical Officer at Government of Sindh and is attached with PPHI Sindh since 2013. He is also the focal person for Malaria, HIV and Hepatitis in PPHI Sindh. He served as Medical Officer, Head Quarter PPHI for two years at Jacobabad before his current posting at Head Office in 2016. Furthermore, Dr. Odho’s work experience also covers clinical approaches, ophthalmology, communicable diseases and health insurance.
Before joining PPHI Sindh, Dr. Odho has worked in Ophthalmology at Ziauddin University Hospital, Karachi. He has also worked at international organisations such as Save the Children as their Medical Officer for Measles Program launched at District Jacobabad.
