In the heart of Ashro Thar, a remote area nestled nearly 180 km from DO Sanghar-A, a young woman’s journey of dedication and service was beginning to make waves. Miss Sumera, a trainee midwife who joined PPHI in April 2024, was steadily transforming the lives of the community at the Health Facility GD Saeedau. The facility wasn’t designated as a single midwife center, yet Miss Sumera had taken it upon herself to be on call for the people she served, always ready to respond to the needs of mothers and newborns. The community, long underserved and distant from basic healthcare, now had a lifeline in her. She provided essential maternal and newborn health care (MNCH) services, but her role didn’t stop there. She attended to female outpatient services, assisted with deliveries, and was an integral part of the CCT program, tirelessly working to uplift the health and well-being of the local population. In a region where medical resources were scarce, Miss Sumera’s unwavering dedication made her a beacon of hope. Her commitment did not go unnoticed. CEO PPHI Sindh, Mr. Javed Ali Jagirani recognized her efforts during a visit to the facility. As a gesture of gratitude and honor, he presented her with the traditional Ajrak, a symbol of respect and admiration. The presentation was more than a ceremonial act—it was a public acknowledgment of Miss Sumera’s relentless service in one of the most remote areas of the region. Her success was not just in the numbers of patients treated or deliveries assisted; it lay in her sincere ownership of her responsibilities, her deep connection with the community, and her personal commitment to improving healthcare services in Ashro Thar. The people she served saw her not just as a healthcare provider, but as a trusted and compassionate figure who was dedicated to their well-being.
