CEO PPHI Sindh attends Provincial Task Force meeting on Polio Eradication Campaign in Sindh
In a significant move to eradicate polio from the region, medical and public health students will actively participate in the upcoming polio campaign. This decision was made in a recent high-profile meeting chaired by the Minister for Health and Population Welfare, Dr. Azra Pechuho and Chief Secretary Sindh, Syed Asif Haider Shah. The meeting was also attended by PPHI Sindh CEO, Mr. Javed Ali Jagirani. During the meeting, the critical role these students will play in persuading parents who have been reluctant to immunize their children was emphasized. In the special campaign, 47 lakh 57 thousand 303 children will be given polio vaccine. The Provincial Health Minister, Dr. Azra Pechuho, anti-polio drops should be administered to children at all railway stations and bus stands as well. The Chief Secretary has instructed all Deputy Commissioners to closely monitor the progress of the polio campaign, ensuring that there are no lapses, especially in high-risk areas. "No lapses in the polio campaign will be tolerated in high-risk areas," he stated firmly. The Chief Secretary, Syed Asif Haider Shah highlighted that until 100% of newborns are recorded and vaccinated, the polio virus will continue to pose a challenge.
