Empowering Frontline Healthcare Workers for Safer Motherhood in District Ghotki


PPHI Sindh, District Ghotki (Sukkur Region) successfully organized and completed the 3-Day E-MOTIVE Cascade Training (Batch 3) under the prestigious Gates Foundation Project from August 31st to September 2nd, 2026, at EPI Hall, DHO Office, Mirpur Mathelo.

The training achieved 100% attendance, empowering 22 Female Medics and Paramedics with life-saving skills to combat Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) and enhance maternal healthcare across the district.

Leadership & Facilitation:
Strategic Supervision: Dr. Mahjabeen (RMNCH Focal Person, Sukkur) & Ms. Humaira Ayoob (RPO Sukkur)
Lead Facilitator: Dr. Salma (MNCH Coordinator, Ghotki)
Co-Facilitators: Dr. Saira & Dr. Mehak

Core Clinical Focus Areas:
- Implementation of the E-MOTIVE Treatment Bundle
- Accurate blood loss estimation techniques
- Management of maternal shock & Non-pneumatic Anti-Shock Garments (NASG) application
- Uterine Balloon Tamponade (UBT) deployment for refractory PPH
- Genital tract trauma identification and repair
- Clinical management of Anaemia (including Ferric Carboxymaltose)
- Modified Early Obstetric Warning Score (MEOWS) for sepsis recognition & standardized referral pathways
- Post-PPH rehabilitative care & follow-up

Independent Monitoring & Support:
On Day 3, the Aga Khan University (AKU) team-comprising Dr. Fareeha Sheeraz (Gynaecologist) and Dr. Kanwal (PHS Specialist)-monitored the training, reviewed participant capacity, and facilitated interactive learning sessions. The team expressed outstanding feedback regarding the quality of facilitation and participant engagement.

Closing Ceremony & Dignitaries:
The concluding session was graced by Dr. Aftab Rao (DHO Ghotki) and Mr. Muhammad Arif Abbasi (DM PPHI Sindh, DO Ghotki), who interacted with the trainees, commended their dedication, and distributed training completion certificates.

This capacity-building initiative marks a major step forward in reducing preventable maternal morbidity and mortality across District Ghotki.
