Second Meeting of Early Cancer Detection Alliance Board Held at SGOC


The second meeting of the Board of the Early Cancer Detection Alliance was held at SGOC on 18 January. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Salman Farooki, former Federal Ombudsman, and Syed Asif Hyder Shah, Chief Secretary Sindh.

The meeting was attended by several distinguished personalities, including Mr. Fazal-ur-Rehman (former Chief Secretary), Mr. Aslam Sanjrani (former Chief Secretary), Mr. Muhammad Siddique Memon (former Chief Secretary), Mr. Muhammad Usman Chachar (former Chief Secretary), and Mr. Muhammad Waseem, Chairman SPSC. Other notable participants included Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Ms. Nasrin Haq, Mr. Siraj Shamsuddin, Mr. Hameed Haroon, Mr. Farooq Hassan, Dr. Shaista Khan, Dr. Lubna Ayub, Begum Shahnaz Sheikh, Dr. Alysha Farooqi, Dr. Humaira Jamil, Mr. Jamil, Mr. Aziz Memon, Mr. Ghufran Memon, and Mr. Javed Jagirani, CEO PPHI.

The board reviewed progress made since the previous meeting and discussed strategic directions to strengthen early cancer detection initiatives across Sindh. Emphasis was placed on policy support, inter-sectoral collaboration, and improving access to early screening and diagnostic services to reduce cancer-related morbidity and mortality.

The co-chairs appreciated the valuable input of board members and reiterated the Alliance's commitment to advancing early cancer detection through coordinated efforts, advocacy, and sustainable health interventions.
