PPHI Sindh Supports Digital Transformation of Primary Healthcare Through EMR Initiative
Hyderabad: PPHI Sindh is supporting the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) initiative, a major step towards the digital transformation of healthcare in Sindh. The initiative is led by the Health and Population Welfare Department, Government of Sindh, with support of World Bank. PPHI Sindh supports primary healthcare service delivery and implementation at health facilities.
The EMR platform replaces paper-based documentation with digital records, allowing healthcare providers to maintain and access patients' medical histories, diagnoses, treatments and follow-up records. This helps reduce paperwork and recordkeeping errors and makes patient information easier to retrieve when needed. At primary healthcare facilities, the system can also support the monitoring of pregnant women, newborns and children through records of antenatal and postnatal visits, immunisation and growth monitoring, where these functions are included in the system.
The initiative will also support data-driven decision-making. Digital records can help managers analyse disease patterns, service use and treatment outcomes, while improving transparency and accountability in service records. At the provincial level, protected and aggregated health data can help identify underserved communities and plan healthcare services more effectively. Through this initiative, PPHI Sindh remains committed to strengthening primary healthcare and improving the quality of care for the people of Sindh.
